This weekend was great. We didn’t do things much differant than pervious weekends, but it felt so much greater than other ones! We had friends over for lunch yesterday and that was super fun 🙂 They have a baby only 3 weeks younger than Katie, though gestationally, their baby is older, ya confusing I know. Anyway, it was fun to watch the 2 of them together. Around 4.5-5 months babies just start getting REALLY aware of whats going on around them. They were looking at each other, reaching for each other, holding each other’s hands. It was about the cutest and most precious thing ever. Andrew and I also just had a great time together. The weather was amazing, so we got outside and walked together. It was so relaxing. We went on a date Friday too, that was the one thing that was differant. It was nice to get out for a nice, but cheap, haha, dinner together and enjoy some US time. I realize we should have done that months ago, but as a first time mom, I was leery of leaving kiddo with someone else (well, other than grandparents). She did fine though and smiled at Jessica, our babysitter. She was happy, that is, until she pooped! HAHAHA, we felt sooooo bad for her. It was her first time babysitting and she had to change a poopy diaper. How that kid managed that I dont know, considering she filled 3 diapers with that nastiness the day before!! HAHAHA. Ok, sorry, Anyway, that is the one negative to living so far from grandparents! Another fun discovery was that Katie loves, I MEAN LOVES, carrots. She had eaten the whole container every single time and saying hmmm, mmm, oooo, whenver she is eating them. It is soooo cute. We try squash today, wonder how that will go! Another reason I think this weekend was good was because katie had fun in nursery, YAY! We were blessed Sunday because the couple in there helping had a baby only 10 days older than Katie! SO, they knew EXACTLY what she needed and wanted. They understood when she got fussy, it was because she was bored, or just wanted something new to look at. It was so nice. The only not so nice thing was some of the old, rusty, and nasty toys in there, hmmm, unsafe much??? lol.
Another nice thing about these past few days is I have gotten wonderful encouragment from friends as well as able to bring encouragement to others. A verse came to mind when I was writing an e-mail to a friend. I think I actually posted more of this section in an earlier post, but this one is really sticking with me.
“I know what it is to be in need, and I know what it is to have plenty. I have learned the secret of being content in any and every situation, whether well fed or hungry, whether living in plenty or in want.” phil 4:12
This verse can be especially comforting and encouraging during this current economy. It helps to know that even in bible times, people struggled with some of the same struggles we have. . .and they came out of it! We do need to be content with what we have, rather than always seeking for more. Truth is, even in this “bad” economy, we all still have WAY more than most other people in the world! HELLO!? Maybe we need to focus on that rather than always on wanting more. I am guilty of this as well, especially with a baby. My focus may have shifted from me to Katie, but she doesn’t really need all the top of the line toys and games. SHE IS A BABY! She just wants love 🙂 Most babies are content when they are fed, changed, cared for and loved. I think we could all learn something from that. . .
