Promises
I was doing my devotional mere moments ago and came across a verse. It is in Joshua. I was reading about how God fulfilled His promise of land to the differant tribes and their people. God DID fulfill that promise, and they each got the land God had promised to them. The verse is this:
“All of the good promises that the Lord had given Israel had come true.” Joshua 21:45 (NLT)
I actually wrote a letter to my husband on this, because I felt God speaking to me about His plan for us to move to Maryland. Although this verse has “Israel” in the verse, read it as if God is speaking directly to YOU! Insert YOUR name in replacement of Israel. “All of the promises that the Lord had given EMILY had come true.” WOW, cool huh? This gave me great encouragement because 2 years ago on a simple vacation, we felt the Spirit of the Lord speak to us. We felt Him calling us to a specific location in Maryland, in the Baltimore area. Reading this verse helped me remember God will ALWAYS fulfill His promises. Yes, things are going slower than we had hoped, but we are not on OUR timeline, we are on God’s. Just because things are moving slower, doesn’t mean God forgot about us or that He won’t fulfill the promise of getting us to “our land.” So think on this verse today. Is there anything in your life that you feel God forgot about? Is there any promise that it seems like He isn’t giving you, or that he lied to you on? Take heart, because he WILL fullfill those promises, it just may be that we are trying to rush Him. As our pastor states “God is never late, or early, but always right on time.” God Bless
“The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. He is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance.” 2 Peter 3:9
