Our speech, among other things

I am not sure if everyone knows this, but Andrew and myself have returned to our former church home, Lakeview.  It is not because of anything negative with Journey, we just felt God calling us back their for this season of our lives.  I re-joined choir :-) so that is fun!  So, apparantly, it was the youth retreat this past weekend, so the pastor kind of preached to them yesterday.  However, even though he preached to them, using the following passage, it can, and should, apply to everyone’s life.  There was one part in particular that really stuck out to us.

“Don’t let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an example for the believers in speech, in life, in love, in faith and in purity.” 1 Timothy 4:12

The part that jumped out, and convicted, me was the “speech” part.  I have not been very good with my speech lately to Andrew.  I am naggy at times, I get short with him and I get irritated easily, especially when I am tired.  We are both arguing more than we should be at times.  WOW, no one tells you just how much having a baby changes your marriage and how much harder you have to work at remaining loving and kind with one another.  It is HARD work.  We probably cannot do it alone, but with God, we can.  He can help us be loving in our speech and his Spirit will convict us when we are not and get us back on track.  I really was convicted about this yesterday.  Now, every single part of this verse I can work on, I am sure we all can!  None of us are perfect, however, I know that speech (well and the loving better part) I definately need to work on being more patient sounding and loving to Andrew.  Please, be praying for us in this! God Bless!
