It is Thursday! Almost Friday, which means almost the weekend :-) YAY! Andrew and I had a nice evening together last night. I am VERY excited, it is now official. We are going to Baltimore, MD in 2 weeks! We have our plane tickets, the hotel set up and a rental car, woohoo!
Ok, so for the title of my blog, “don’t tell them Jesus loves them.” Ok, so you are probably thinking that sounds crazy, umm aren’t we supposed to let people know Jesus loves them? Well, yes. However, I am at home today and am doing some much needed cleaning. I have the music channel on the Contempoary Christian station while I am working, and while some of the songs are a bit cheesy, I just heard one (though a little outdated!) that struck a nerve in me. It is a song by Steve Camp, called “Don’t Tell them Jesus loves them.” I did not hear all the words, but one line of the chorus is so very true. It says “Don’t tell them Jesus loves them, until you are ready to love them too.” It is kinda of the mindset that we are to love the sinner, hate the sin. But, be honest. How many of us always follow that rule? There are many times where it is apparant to the “sinner” we don’t love them OR their sin and we don’t want them anywhere around us. The truth is we are ALL sinners. There is no WORSE sin, there is no comparison game when it comes to sin. Anything we do which goes against God’s commands and teachings are sins, no matter how big or small they seem. It does not matter what it is or how bad it looks. Yes, as humans, we have the tendency to compare our sins, saying, wow she is living with someone who she isnt’ married to, I just get “tipsy” OCCASIONSALLY, I am much better than her! Folks, this is not true and its just stupid. Unfortunately, we are all guilty, me included, of it at times. People, if we TRULY want to reach the world for Christ, the disconnected for Christ, we need to change our attitudes. We need to truly LOVE the sinner, truly wanting to help them OUT of their sin and bring them into a relationship with Christ. We need to break through the predjudices that we, As Christ-Followers, sometimes have from the view of others. We need to realize we are sinners too, we have experienced the same mercy, grace and salvation that can reach them. We need to realize that our attitudes toward them is just as much a sin! We truly need to tell them Jesus loves them, while truly loving them ourselves.
“By this all people will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.” John 13:35
