Fresh Perspectives

Good morning!  Well it is only 9:00 and I have already had a great morning!  Praise be to God.  I had an amazing quiet time this morning.  I think it is so amazing that God’s Word is still living, breathing, and active in our lives, and people, it is, if we are open to it, trust in it, and really BELIEVE it!  This morning, God really used what I read to breath a new sense of expectancy into my soul and a new sense of peace into my heart, it was truly comforting.  I have been reading a Proverb a day.  Since there are either 30 or 31 days in the month and 31 Proverbs, it works great (my husband actually encouraged me in this idea).  Now of course, I will be honest, I have missed some days, but the good thing about it is, if you miss a day, you always know to pick up and read the Proverb that corresponds with the days date.  So, of course, today was Proverbs 31.  Wow, I saw that with fresh eyes today.  I really prayed through the verses about the oh so well known ”proverbs 31 woman” and God showed me HOW I can be those things for Andrew as we prepare for our change into full time ministry.  Sure, I rememberd the verses and rememberd reading them over and over and over AND over before we got married, truly desiring to be a godly wife.  However, it was really neat to read those this morning with a new perspective.  Not only with a perspective of how to be an overall godly wife, but a fresh perspective about how I can take each of those verses and ask myself “Ok, how can I use this verse to encourage Andrew in ministry?”  It was really awesome.  I wrote the verses in the journal and the wrote how I can be those things as a “minister’s wife” to Andrew.  It is really neat to see how those verses can apply to EVERY wife, no matter what her husbands occupation!  God is WAY cool like that huh? ;-)

Another “old” verse I read in which the Lord gave me “new” perspective was Psalm 31:24 which states “Be strong, let your heart take courage, all you who wait for the Lord” (ESV).  This verse applies to our call to ministry in SO many ways.  We ARE waiting on the Lord right now.  We don’t know where, we don’t know when, we don’t even know the how at this point, but regardless of how many questions go unanswered in our current state, we know God’s calling us into ministry, therefore we can trust God will answer each of those.  We can take heart, we can have courage, and we can be strong.  Each of these will be MUCH needed as we prepare to start a church.  Church planting takes ALOT of courage and alot of strength, both spiritually AND physically (just ask the set up and take down team at Journey! haha).  But even though we are waiting on the Lord right now, sometimes patiently and sometimes impatiently, we can take heart!  God WILL answer!  This verse also helps when we feel we want to quit what we are doing currently.  God will give us the courage to finish whatever task He has set before us now in order to prepare us for the task He will set before us in the future.

So, I hope everyone has a blessed day today!  Remember, don’t quit!  Take heart, have courage, be strong.  Nothing is impossible with God on our side.  Those of you waiting on the Lord for something, I encourage you to read this verse and really meditate on it.  In a way, we each “wait on God” at certain times in our lives.  I don’t think God makes us wait to look down and laugh at our squirming or anciness, but rather, makes us wait in order to build our relationship in Him, to help us trust Him more and build our faith in Him.  We can always trust in the Lord and trust He will fullfill all He calls us to do.  He won’t ever let us down, no matter HOW long it seems we are “waiting.”  God Bless! :-)
